Self Potrait

a) What were you trying to express and
how did you achieve this?

I was trying to express a more emotional side of me. I based my potrait on fear of rejection.Nobody likes to be rejected wether it be from a job or a boy. I showed this emotion bya potrait of an tear drop falling into the word REJECTION.

b) What filters did you use and where?

I used the distort filters for the words.  I also used the smudge stick and the blur effect from the artictic filters on the back ground and various different parts.

b) What layer blending mode did you use and where?

I used the hard light on the eye image to give it a better effect and I used an overlay on the puddle of water to enhance its effect to.
c) What special brush did you use and where?

I used the Azalea brush on the background of the image to give it  a softer touch to the image.

“How did you do it?”

For this image above I had to recreate Mr.oneeye’s eye. It was pretty simple. I first duplicated the layer. Next I used the Elliptical Marquee tool to outline the right eye. Then I feathered the eye at 1 pixel. I copyed then pasted it. Finally I adjusted the using the  free tranform rotating it to a good position to give the illusion of a real eye.

Born Into Brothels

“Born into Brothels” respond questions:

1) How did you enjoy the film? What stood out for you?

I REALLY enjoyed this film. It got me thinking. It made me wonder about the children in other regions of the world and how different their lifestyles are from ours. I guess what stood out the most to me was the children, thier talent and their personalities. How they were able to express there emotions and feelings in a single photograph. You gotta be talented to do that. Also the fact that they live in a such a despised society with very bad living conditions but still having hopes and dreams on doing better.

2) Did you learn anything new about photography, life, people? What?

Yes I did learn alot of new things about photography, life and people. I learned that photography is an expression of feelings and emotions. We dont appreciate the oppurtunities we have everyday and take for granted the littliest things that mean alot to other people living in the world. I also leanred alot about the children in the film and there undiscovered talent that was easily shown with a camera. They Live in an enviornment with horrible examples all aorund them. But doing there best to live with what they have(which is almost nothing).

3) How do you think the world needs to change?

How important is this?

Wow.. The world needs to change because of the all the issues going on right now. From racism to discremantion to war to poverty. This is important because it affects everyone around the world. Even in the most unexpected places. We should be aware of society around us, and Iam not talking about only north america . I mean the whole world and they’re living conditions and how we can easily work together as a nation to help out neighbouring countries with issues.

4) What are you willing to do TODAY to be a part

of that change?

What am I willing to do TODAY?.. wow.. thats hard. I belive that I could easily help with the change by simple gestures like standing for what I belive is right. Being a leader. Contributing to organizations that I feel really passionate about. Being a spokes person for un resolved issues that are on going. Change takes time. So its one step at a time.

5) Do you know a good song/rap/poem with
good lyrics about change in the world?
Post a link or lyrics to share it with us.

TWISTA (f/ Faith Evans) LYRICSHope
[Verse 1 (Twista)]
I wish the way I was living could stop, serving rocks,
Knowing the cops is hot when I’m on the block, And I
Wish my brother woulda made bail,
So I won’t have to travel 6 hours to see him in jail, And I
Wish that my grandmother wasn’t sick,
Or that we would just come up on some stacks and hit a lick, And I (I wish)
Wish my homies wouldn’t have to suffer,
When the streets get the upper hand on us and we lose a brother, And I
Wish I could go deep in a zone,
And lift the spirits of the world with the words with in this song, And I (I wish)
Wish I could teach a soul to fly,
Take away the pain out cha hands and help you hold them hi, And I
Wish my hommie Butch was still alive
And on the day of his death we had never took that ride, And I (I wish)
Wish God could protect us from the wrong
So that all the solders that were sent over seas come home
We will never break, though they devastate, we shall motivate,
And we gotta pray, all we got is faith.
Instead of thinking about who gonna die to day,
The Lord is gonna help you feel better, so you ain’t gotta cry today.
Sit at the light so long,
And then we gotta move straight forward, cuz we fight so strong,
So when right go wrong,
Just say a little prayer, get ya money man, life go on!!!
Let’s HOPE![Chorus (Faith Evans)]
Cuz I’m hopeful, yes I am, hopeful for today,
Take this music and use it
Let it take you away,
And be hopeful (hopeful) and he’ll make a way
I know it ain’t easy but that’s okay.
cause we hopeful[Verse 2 (Twista)]
I wish that you could show some love,
Instead of hatin so much when you see some other people commin up (I wish)
I wish I could teach the world to sing,
Watch the music and have ‘em trippin of the joy I bring, (shiit)
I wish that we could hold hands,
Listen instead of dissin lessons from a grown man, And I (I wish)
Wish the families that lack, but got love, get some stacks
Brand new shack and a lack that’s on dubs, And I
Wish we could keep achieving wonders,
See the vision of the world through the eyes of Stevie Wonder, (you feel me) (I wish)
And I hope all the kids eat,
And don’t nobody in my family see six feet, (ya dig)
I hope them mothers stain’ strong,
You can make it whether you wit him or your mans gone, And I (I wish)
Wish I could give every celly some commissary,
And the po po bring the heat on them priest like they did R. Kelly, And I
Wish that DOC could scream again
And bullets could reverse so Pac and Biggie breath again, (shit) (I wish)
Then one day they could speak again,
I wish that we only saw good news every time we look at CNN,
I wish that we could never get the blues,
Wish I could bring back the people that died, Eddy too
I wish that we could walk a path, stay doin the right thing
Hustle hard so the kids maintain up in the game,
Let’s HOPE

[Chorus (Faith Evans)]
Cuz I’m hopeful, yes I am, hopeful for today,
Take this music and use it
Let it take you away,
And be hopeful (hopeful) and he’ll make a way
I know it ain’t easy but that’s okay.
cause we hopeful

[Verse 3 (Twista)]
Wish the earth wasn’t so apocalyptic,
I try to spread my message to the world the best way I can give it,
We can make it always so optimistic,
If you don’t listen gotta live my life the best way I can live it,
I pray for justice when we go to court,
Wish it was all good so the country never even went to war
Why can’t we kick it and just get em on,
And in the famous words of Mr. King “Why can’t we all just get along”,
Or we can find a better way to shop and please, And I
Hope we find a better way to cop a keys, And I
Wish everybody would just stop and freeze,
And ask way are we fulfillin these downfalls and prophecies,
You can be wrong if it’s you doubting,
With the faith of a mustard seed you can move mountains,
And only the heavenly father and ease the hurt,
Just let it go and keep prayin on your knees in church!!
And let’s HOPE

[Chorus (Faith Evans) X2]
Cuz I’m hopeful, yes I am, hopeful for today,
Take this music and use it
Let it take you away,
And be hopeful (hopeful) and he’ll make a way
I know it ain’t easy but that’s okay.
cause we hopeful

Understanding Resolution

1) Will a 300 dpi image or a 72 dpi image be clearer when printed out at the same size? How come?

A 300 dpi image would be more clearer than a 72 dpi image when printed out the same size because of the more dots used in the 300 dpi picture. Since there were more dots used the clearer and more detailed the picture came out to be. As for the 72 dpi image the picture is still clear but not as clear as the 300 dpi image, because of the less dots used. It would not be sufficient enough for an artwork type picture.

2) What would a picture created at 1 dpi look like?

A picture at 1 dpi would come out really blurry and unclear due to the amounts of dots used to make the picture more detailed. The less dots used the more undetailed the picture comes out to be, and in this cause it was 1 dpi making the image or picture really unclear.!

Magnetic Lasso

Combo

fruitbowl_combo.jpg

1. What combination of tools did you use to isolate the fruit in “fruit_combo.jpg” and where in the image did you use which tool?

The Combination of tools that I used to isolate the fruit bowl in “fruit_combo.jpg” is the magnetic lasso and earser. First I isolated the fruitbowl by using the magnetic lasso, outlineing the bowl and later dragging it on a new page. Then I earsed the outline of the bowl to make it more effecient.

2. Of the methods you used to isolate the fruit in the 3 pictures. Which method did you find most effective in this case?

From all the methods I used. I found that the magnetic lasso was the most effective in this case to avoid outlining little detailed parts of the picture. This tool easily does it for you with a click and a drag.

3. Experiment with the following:
After you make a selection in the menu and go to
     a) Select > Modify > Expand
     b) Select > Modify > Contract
     c) Select > Feather

What do these do? Post a fourth image indicating that you know what feathering does.

A) The Expand Tool lets you expand the selected pixels in your picture.

B)The Contract tool allows you to contract(make smaller) the selected pixels in your picture.

C)The Feather Tool softens the edges of the selected picture and gives off a glow. This helps picture with hard/rough edges and can esily change up a look.

Magazine Cover

magazine-copy.jpg

a) What qualities of your magazine cover make it effective? (eg. What makes it eye catching?, What about it promotes curiosity?, How is it visually pleasing?, What makes it easy to understand?)

There are many different qualities I used in my magazine cover to make it more effective andrealistic. First the large colourful fonts I used really helped. Making them different sizes and using colour that goes with the theme of my cover helped. The fact that I used a picture of myself makes it visually pleasing.. (LOL). I tried my best to make it look realistic by using the same format as a real magazine cover catching the reader’s attention. The large headlines makes it easier for readers to understand my magazine cover and get the concept of what would actually be inside of it.

b) What was the order of hierarchy you were trying to achieve for the elements on your magazine cover?

The order of hierarchy that I was trying to achieve for the elements on my magazine cover are:

1) ME!.. My cover picture

2)  Cosmo Girl Logo

3).”387 WAYS TO MAKE HIM FALL FOR YOU”–Secondary story line

4). Hoden Haji “Her first year at W.H.C.I and how shes surving so far”–Featured story
